Voting against this bill were: Senators Boley, Guills, Prezioso, Sprouse, Unger and Sypolt. Click Here to see how your senator voted.

Voting for this bill in the Finance Committee were: Senators Facemeyer, Love, Plymale and Helmick. These senators committed to WV Family Foundation, on our Family Values Questionnaire or our Gambling Pledge, that they were against expansion of gambling with table games. They did not honor their commitment to WV Family Foundation with their gambling vote.

Delegates' Roll Call Vote on the House floor on Gambling Bill
(HB-2718)

House Delegates voted on the House floor Friday in favor of an amended version of HB-2718 Table Games bill, which would allow the state's four racetracks to seek their county's approval to offer table games. The final vote was 55 Yea and 42 Nay with 2 delegates absent. An "X" on the attached roll call form denotes that Delegate Eustace Frederick, D-Mercer, was absent but asked that his vote be recorded as a "Nay" vote.

Information on the impact of this bill:
The bill allows only voters in just four counties, not all WV voters, to decide to legalize table games gambling in their counties. These four counties
already depend heavily on racetracks for their income. It is evident that those who support table games gambling in West Virginia realize their odds for success are greatly enhanced by allowing only a county vote, instead of allowing all West Virginia voters to vote on this important issue. Once these four counties vote and approve table games we will see the gambling industry back to the legislature next year wanting additional gambling sites. It will never end until WV is broke, along with many of its citizens.
